This workshop brings together current and future IEEE leaders from across Region 8 to collaborate, share best practices, learn skills and grow as effective leaders in our global community. This training is designed for newly elected Membership Development Officers, Chapter Coordinators, Chapter Chairs, Section Chairs, and Chair-Elects.
The IEEE Region 8 Volunteer Leadership Training (VLT) is your opportunity to:
Learn practical tools for leading successful chapters and organizing impactful events,
Form strategies to grow and retain membership using IEEE tools and analytics,
Receive guidance on chapter formation, funding, and working with IEEE Sections,
Gain insights into annual planning, reporting, and aligning with IEEE goals,
Opportunities to network, share experiences, and collaborate across Region 8.

IEEE Region 8 covers event accommodation (2 nights from 17 to 19 july in Verdi Tunis beach Resort) and registration costs. Additional nights of accommodation can’t be covered by R8.
Tunis Airport transfer to/from Verdi Tunis beach resort (approx. 20 km) is provided by the hotel free of charge for the IEEE participants.
Airline and other attendance costs to/from the event venue must be arranged independently. Please check with your Section Chair / Treasurer for support.
Additional nights of accommodation must be booked individually.

All data owners retain ownership and copyright to their datasets when they are published on the IEEE DataPort platform. ]]>The IEEE International Humanitarian Technology Conference (IEEE IHTC) is an interdisciplinary conference series organized by IEEE Region 8 (Africa, Europe, and the Middle East), IEEE Region 7 (Canada), and IEEE Region 9 (Latin America and the Caribbean). IEEE IHTC 2024 will be hosted at Politecnico di Bari (Bari, Italy) on November 27‐30 as a hybrid conference.
Stakeholders from the public, private, education and research, and societal sectors around the world are invited to submit their contributions focused on showcasing challenges, success stories, lessons learned, case studies, and technological innovation related to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ICT4D, and the application of Humanitarian Technologies (including Disaster Relief and Disaster Recovery). Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE IHTC 2024 Conference Proceedings. Full papers presented and discussed orally will be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

]]>In June 2021 IEEE TryEngineering.org launched a new IEEE STEM Champion Program to
recognize IEEE volunteers for their contributions to STEM education and to build a community
of IEEE STEM outreach volunteers.
We are looking to add to our STEM Champion team. All active IEEE Members are invited to
submit an application no later than 8 April 2024 (11:59pm ET) to be considered as a STEM
Champion. Applications will be reviewed in late April and selections will be announced in early
May.
The Program resides under TryEngineering.org. The IEEE STEM Champion title is a
designation given to an individual IEEE volunteer and is not a Region or Section officer position.

The IEEE R8 Students & Young Professionals Congress, or simply R8 SYP Congress, is one of the most famous and important events in Region 8. It is held every 2 years and brings together students and young professionals in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) from all sections in Region 8. It is an excellent opportunity for IEEE members to network and develop their technical and cross-disciplinary skills.
During the Congress, a wide variety of workshops and conferences are organized, dealing with exciting and up-to-the-minute technical subjects. At the same time, the conference offers training workshops on soft skills, essential for teamwork. In addition to this training program, social activities are planned to enable participants to exchange ideas and experience a wide range of cultures.
In its 14th edition, this biennial event is the largest gathering of students and young professionals in Region 8, attracting bright minds from diverse Sections worldwide. The congress is a melting pot of innovation, fostering engineering sense and capabilities, and providing a global platform for networking with industry leaders.
